Two new Ultimate albums available

WRD has released two new albums in their "Ultimate" series, the Ultimate Latin Album 10 and the Ultimate Ballroom Album 12. Both are good, but I must say that the Ballroom version is one of the best of the entire series.

The Ultimate Latin Album 10 features Michael and Joanna on the cover, with some excellent Rumbas and Jives, including Diana Krall's "The Look of Love" and "He's Shade in a Drape," a lively Jive by Joe Jackson. There's also a very nice Paso called "La Coruna." I was less impressed with the Cha Cha's which are mostly remixed versions of music from the 70's. Of these, "Kiss" by the Art of Noise is pretty good. A Samba called "Bucovina" will probably find some airtime at competitions. Familiar to many competitors will be "Agua Dulce Agua Sala, this version by DJ Hardin.

The Ultimate Ballroom Album 12, with Arunas and Katusha on the cover, shines with great Waltzes. It's been a while since we've heard some really awesome new Waltz releases, and these ones are amazing. The sweeping scope of "Two Socks at Play" by John Barry Orchestra, and "A Daisy in December" are joined by Andrea Ross' version of Mancini's haunting "Moon River" theme from Breakfast at Tiffany's. I also enjoyed the Quickstep "White Heat Stomp," the Viennese Waltz "Absences" by the 101 Strings Orchestra, and the amazingly modern and dynamic Tango "Los Requerdo" by Nuevo Tango Project.

You can find both of these albums at major dance music retailers such as Danceshopper.com.
